SPOTLIGHT ON COLON HEALTH

Begin your journey to colonic health here

Constipations, IBS, Heartburn, Bloating, Diarrhea, Candida Albicans, Ulcers and more

Problems of constipation and diarrhoea are an indication that something is not functioning properly with our digestive system.

Proper bowel functioning is essential to health. Besides absorption and defecation of foods in the colon; the organ is associated with hormonal balances, immunity etc.

The cells in the colon must be functioning at optimum levels for correct absorption to occur. Because it is so essential to our overall wellbeing, and because it is often so neglected, it is an area that needs to be assessed in every health programme.

Sally T. Psyllium Husks

Odourless and nearly tasteless, psyllium comes from the small, reddish brown to black seeds of the Plantago psyllium plant (plantain). These tiny seeds are so rich in fibre that they’ve been prescribed for constipation and a wide range of other digestive ailments for more than 500 years. These seeds, so tiny they are sometimes called ‘flea’ seeds, are generally dried, ground and sold in powder form. Psyllium is sometimes added to breakfast cereals.

Suggested uses that it may assist with: – Constipation, diarrhoea – Diverticular disease – Irritable bowel syndrome – Prevention of gallstones – Haemorrhoids – Lowering cholesterol – Normalizing colon ecology – Bulk stool formation

Sally T. ProFlora Forte

This high potency probiotic supplement assists in the promotion of natural intestinal flora which helps in maintaining healthy digestive function.

Health begins in the gut and it is essential to ensure that the colon ecology is optimum with the ratio of 80% “good” bacteria to 20% of the “problematic” gut bacteria. Once this ratio becomes unbalanced, colon health is compromised. By adding these natural “good” probiotics the concentration of the “good” bacteria increases restoring equilibrium.

The gut in a healthy individual can contain as much as 2.5kg of healthy bacteria. Research has now confirmed that the colon is an active organ and when in prime condition facilitates in the secretion of hormones (even estrogen for women) and neurotransmitters like serotonin. It can manufacture natural antibiotic like substances as well. In our life cycle and in all health conditions, gut health is an essential perquisite.

Suggested uses that it may help with:
– When taking antibiotics – especially if excessive amounts
– Constipation
– Genetic history of colon cancer
– Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease
– Heartburn, abdominal gas
– Digestive issues
– Compromised immune system
– Food intolerances and food allergies
– Candida Albicans
– Cortisone treatment
– Acne
– Stabilization of gut flora.

Sally T. Magnesium Oxide 200mg; 100 Tabs

Being bound to an oxide group this magnesium is poorly absorbed which lends itself to different uses compared to some other magnesium compounds.

How it works and what it benefits:
Although magnesium oxide can be used to enhance low magnesium levels it is not the compound of choice for this modality as the absorption from the “oxide” form is poor. The magnesium oxide form is known to work mainly with the gastrointestinal tract.
It can assist in the relief of heartburn – being used as an antacid and can also actually be used to increase bowel function as a low grade laxative.
As a laxative it will increase peristaltic action and when combined with a bulk increasing agent (fibre e.g. psyllium husks) it makes a perfect synergistic working module.
Long term constipation should be treated holistically with increased fibre and selected food choices ensuring more than adequate levels of water intake.
