Bromelain is a protease digestive enzyme found in pineapples. It breaks down proteins into amino acids which the body can readily digest and absorb supporting healthy digestion. These enzymes are resistant to acidic conditions and therefore remains 100% active in the gut.
Suggested Uses
- When taken with food, bromelain helps support digestion.
- When taken between meals, it enters the blood stream and may have beneficial anti-inflammatory activity in the body as it may help support joint comfort, relieve temporary soreness that is associated with muscle overuse โ tendonitis, sprains and strains.
- It is often promoted for reducing pain and swelling. This is applied especially after surgery or injury especially with nose, sinuses and gums.
- Bromelain has been known to produced significant decrease in soft tissue swelling in arthritic joint swelling.
Dosage:
Take 1 capsule half an hour before a meal 2 to 3 times a day or as directed by your health practitioner.
For inflammation reduced doses range from 80 โ 400mg per serving, 2 to 3 times daily.
Suggested to not be used during pregnancy or lactation unless recommended by a healthcare practitioner.
Contraindications:
Caution if used with blood thinners as bromelain may increase bleeding.
Side effects:
Stomach upset and diarrhoea have been reported.
